As all social media platforms have started supporting hashtags, the use of hashtags for promoting a brand or a company is increased. There are 2.96 billion social media users around the world, according to Statista. If you are ready to engage with the vast target audience, planning your marketing strategies around hashtags becomes crucial. However, it is not that easy as it sounds.

Hashtag Campaign on Twitter: Create a Unique Identity

There is no list kept of available hashtags. However, Twitter is the first social media platform that allowed the use of hashtags, and it has become popular ever since. However, designing a hashtag campaign for Twitter is not easy because of its character constraints and rules of creating hashtags.

Not all hashtags become popular. To make your hashtags popular and to plan your business operations around it, it is essential to keep your target audiences and the usability of your hashtag in mind. If not used at appropriate places and posts, your hashtag may become a tool of something else than what you have intended.

    What Are Hashtags?

Any word or phrase becomes “hashtag” when a hash sign (#) is put at the beginning. Social media platforms, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and more create dedicated URLs for every hashtag and include all the posts having that hashtag. This helps create a repository of every hashtag and helps in marketing products and services of a company over social media.

6 Steps to Creating Your Hashtag Campaign On Twitter

This process helps a marketer to keep every necessary aspect in mind when creating a hashtag campaign on Twitter. You can ensure the campaign proceeds on the right path throughout the time by keeping the essential elements and following each step.

    1. Market Analysis and Customer Research

First, analyze where you are currently. Check your presence and influence on every social media platform. This helps you understand what your campaign should focus on. Also, it is essential to monitor your competitors and their positions on social media platforms.

It helps find out the relevant keywords that you should use in your campaigns. Find out the keywords they use and monitor the competition over them. Along with tracking your brand over social media platforms, it is essential to keep an eye on your competitors also. It gives you two benefits:

    1) It helps you understand what efforts you are required to put in.

If you understand what your brand is currently doing, you can add the aspects where your competitors are leading. Giving the right direction to your campaign from the start is necessary, and researching the market helps you.

    2) List down keywords you can work with to provide desired results.

It is necessary to know which keywords you can use for your campaign to reach the right audiences and promote products in the right way. Hence, ensure you find the keywords that help you attract viewers.

    1. Set Goals and Strive to Meet Them

Before launching your hashtag campaign, it is essential to keep your goals in mind to plan your actions. Setting the goals of your campaign also helps in guiding your team in the right direction. By keeping each goal in mind, you can set an action plan that works to deliver the best results.

    1. Create a Great Hashtag

Your entire campaign is revolving around the hashtag you decide to use for promoting your brand. Therefore, it is required that you chose a hashtag that is great at delivering results that orient around your campaign goals. A hashtag can link your content to contests and help market your content.

However, creating a hashtag that gets immediately put to use by users is tricky. It is required to keep many aspects in mind when creating a hashtag around your brand. The hashtag you decide to use must be:

    • Unique
    • Captivating
    • Short
    • Brand-relevant
    • Striking

For example, Mcdonald’s recently promoted its late-night delivery offer by creating a #McDelivery hashtag. Users who used this hashtag availed a late-night delivery from Mcdonald’s outlet with UberEats support. Hence, the marketing campaign of both these companies achieved tremendous results with the use of the right hashtag.

    1. Seek Support from Influencers

Influencer marketing has become a $5-10 billion industry with increasing social media usage. And one of the best ways to promote your campaigns is by reaching them who can influence others to check out your campaign. Therefore, to encourage the use of your hashtag and involve the majority of your potential audiences to do the same, it is required to connect with influencers on social media influencers.

Not only do they promote the use of your products and services, but they can also influence others to use your hashtag and provide a significant boost to your campaign. For example, if a business uses uber clone application to provide ride-hailing services, the influencers can mention their Twitter campaign’s hashtag in a post they dedicate to this business.

It helps promote the products and services of a business and also ensures the best results are produced.
